If you’ll be cheering on the U.S. Men’s National Team in their World Cup match against Portugal tomorrow, June 22, we’ve developed the perfect food craft for you to create with your kids before or during the game. Go USA!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of Rice Krispies (You can also use Cocoa Krispies or any other non-puffed crispy rice cereal.)
  • 1 10 oz. bag of mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoon of unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Bananas

Cooking Tools:

  • Large non-stick pot
  • Cupcake pan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • 2 plastic sandwich bags
  • 12 wooden skewers
  • Scissors
  • Soccer Stencil (Download Soccer Stencil)

Making the Rice Krispie cupcakes:

  1. Spray a cupcake pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large, non-stick pot over medium heat.
  3. Once the butter is melted, pour the 10 oz. bag of mini marshmallows into the pot. Stir until the marshmallows are melted and creamy.
  4. After the marshmallows are fully melted, stir in 1 tablespoon of vanilla.
  5. Add 6 cups of Rice Krispie Treats to the marshmallow mixture, and mix until all of the Rice Krispies are covered in marshmallow. Once the Rice Krispies are coated, turn off the heat.
  6. Next, you’ll be placing this mixture into a cupcake pan, so make sure it’s nearby. Take the 2 plastic sandwich bags and place over your hands. While your hands are in the bags, rub a bit of butter on the outside of the plastic bags — this will prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands while you place it in the cupcake pan.
  7. Fill each cupcake mold with this mixture.
  8. Once filled, place the pan into the fridge for about 10 minutes.BrownieKrispies

Decorating the skewers:

  1. While the cupcakes are chilling, chop the strawberries and bananas into as many pieces as you’d like. Then, place the strawberries, bananas and blueberries on the skewers. Feel free to use the pattern we created below, or create your own!
  2. Cut out the soccer ball stencil as shown in steps 4 and 5; you’ll be using both parts of the stencil.
  3. After the Rice Krispie cupcakes have chilled, remove from the fridge. Remove a cupcake from the pan, and gently place it on top of a skewer.
  4. Place stencil 1 on top of the cupcake. Sift the cocoa powder over the stencil. After cocoa powder has covered the area, gently remove the stencil.

  5. Place stencil 2 on top of the area you just covered in cocoa powder. Try to align the stencil with the cocoa powder as best you can. Sift powdered sugar over the stencil and then gently remove.

  6. Gently lift up the skewer and place on a clean serving tray.
  7. Repeat this process with as many cupcakes as you’d like.
