Frosting Tips for Dreidel Cookies

Creating beautiful frosting designs on your cookies doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, it’s very simple.

Using the 100% plant-based food dye included in your Dreidel Cookie Kit and a toothpick, you can create designs on your dreidel cookies that will wow your friends and family.

To create these gorgeous swirled designs, create separate batches of white and blue icing.

For the WHITE Royal Icing:

  1. Combine 2 teaspoon egg white powder, 1 ½ cups powdered sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add ½ teaspoon vanilla and 1 ½ tablespoons of water to the powdered sugar mixture, combining until you get a smooth, consistent paste.
  3. Test for the correct texture by dripping the icing onto itself and counting to 12. If the icing is the right consistency, it should hold the ripple form the drip.

For the BLUE Royal Icing:

  1. In a second bowl, combine 1 teaspoon egg white powder and ¾ cup sifted powdered sugar.
  2. Add ¼ teaspoon vanilla, 1 packet of the 100% plant-based food dye (included in your kit), and 1 tablespoon of water.
  3. Combine until you get a smooth, consistent paste. Test for the correct texture by dripping the icing onto itself and counting to 12. If the icing is the right consistency, it should hold the ripple form the drip.

Instructions:

  1. Place the white icing into a piping bag and cut a small hole in the tip of the bag when you’re ready to decorate.
  2. Working from the outside in, drag the white icing around the cookie until it is completely covered in icing.
  3. Using a small spoon or a knife, take a bit of blue icing and make 3 lines across your cookie, leaving spaces in between the lines. Place the blue lines horizontal on some cookies and vertical on others to alternate the designs.
  4. Then, take a toothpick and drag it through the icing from top to bottom.
  5. Let set before eating.
